Secure Your Marriage License
As you prepare to embark on your marital journey, securing your wedding officiant and marriage license are the essential first step. Follow the instructions below to initiate the process.
Apply for your marriage license.
- If applying in person, both parties must be present.
- Horry County Probate Court: Marriage License – Horry County SC.Gov
- Georgetown County Probate Court: Marriage License | Georgetown County, SC (gtcounty.org)
- Alternatively, you can apply online. Upon approval, print the license and accompanying instructions: Marriage License Division | Probate Court Office (charlestoncounty.org)
Gather the appropriate identification documents.
- Confirm with your county the specific documents required.
Pay the applicable license fee.
- Horry County accepts cashier’s checks, money orders, or cash. Georgetown County welcomes various forms of payment.
Adhere to South Carolina’s mandatory 24-hour waiting period.
- Once 24 hours have passed, you may collect your license.
- For online applicants, the license will be emailed to you after two days.
